About Kido & Me

Real Life. Real Parenting. Very Little Silence.

my baby little feet in my arms

Hi, I’m Mina — a legal professional, lifelong researcher, enthusiastic list-maker, and mother of four children who are currently 19, 14, 5, and 1.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Just when I thought I had successfully completed the baby stage, packed away the tiny clothes, and earned the right to drink a cup of coffee while it was still warm, life handed me another round of bottles, nappies, teething, and mysterious stains no one is willing to explain.

My household currently includes one young adult navigating independence, one teenager who occasionally treats basic questions as cross-examinations, one five-year-old with the negotiating skills of a senior diplomat, and one toddler who believes books are both educational materials and snacks.

There is rarely a dull moment. There is also rarely a quiet one.

A Lawyer Walks Into a Playroom…

My professional background is in law, so my days have long involved rules, documents, deadlines, careful research, and solving complicated problems.

Parenting, naturally, has provided plenty of additional training.

I can read legal language, examine evidence, identify contradictions, and build a logical argument. None of these skills guarantees that I will win a discussion with a five-year-old who insists bedtime is “not legally required.”

My legal background has taught me to look beyond vague claims, check the details, ask the right questions, and avoid presenting opinions as facts. Motherhood has taught me that even the most carefully prepared plan can collapse because someone cannot find the socks they are currently wearing.

Between my career and raising four children across very different stages of life, I have become highly experienced in schedules, school forms, appointments, meal planning, emotional negotiations, emergency snacks, and reheating the same cup of coffee several times.

I am still working on actually drinking it.

Why I Created Kido & Me

Over more than two decades of parenting, I have searched for answers to almost every question imaginable.

I have searched during pregnancy, during late-night feeds, before medical appointments, after confusing school conversations, while comparing baby products, while planning meals, and while trying to work out whether a particular phase was normal, temporary, or simply designed to test my remaining patience.

Sometimes I found excellent information.

Sometimes I opened twelve browser tabs and ended up more confused than when I started.

And sometimes I discovered that an article technically answered the question but clearly had not been written by anyone who had ever tried to leave the house on time with several children.

Kido & Me was created to make those everyday searches easier.

It is a place for practical advice, carefully researched information, honest experiences, and useful resources for pregnancy, babies, children, teenagers, and family life. My aim is not to present a picture of perfect parenting. I have never met a perfect parent, and I am fairly certain perfect children are equally fictional.

Instead, I want to offer information that respects the reality of family life: plans change, children are different, parents get tired, and the solution that worked beautifully on Tuesday may be firmly rejected by Thursday.

Parenting Every Stage at Once

Having children aged 19, 14, 5, and 1 means I am not looking back at parenting through a soft nostalgic filter. I am currently living several stages at the same time.

In one day, I might discuss adult responsibilities, teenage independence, preschool emotions, and whether a toddler should be allowed to carry a spoon into every room of the house.

The answer to the last question is apparently yes, because the toddler has already left the meeting.

This wide age range has also shown me how quickly parenting advice changes. Recommendations, products, technology, school expectations, and access to information are very different from when my oldest child was a baby.

Some things have changed enormously.

Other things remain exactly the same: babies still avoid sleep when parents need it most, small children still ask “why?” until language loses all meaning, and teenagers still have a remarkable ability to become hungry five minutes after declaring that there is nothing to eat.

What You’ll Find Here

Kido & Me covers the practical questions that appear throughout family life: getting pregnant, pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, feeding, sleep, child development, health and safety, behaviour, school years, teenage life, family meals, buying decisions, checklists, paperwork, and everyday organization.

Some articles are based on careful research. Some are informed by my own experiences. Many combine both.

You will find straightforward explanations rather than unnecessary jargon, realistic suggestions rather than impossible routines, and guidance designed for actual families rather than imaginary households where every surface is clean and everyone calmly eats the same vegetable.

Whenever a topic involves medical, developmental, legal, or safety information, I take accuracy seriously and use reliable sources. However, Kido & Me provides general information and personal insight, not individual medical or legal advice. Qualified professionals who understand your specific circumstances should always guide important personal decisions.

No Perfect Parenting Required

I do not believe good parenting means always knowing the answer.

Sometimes it means researching carefully. Sometimes it means changing your approach. Sometimes it means apologizing. And sometimes it means serving an unexpectedly popular dinner assembled from whatever was left in the refrigerator and accepting compliments without revealing the method.

Kido & Me is for parents who care deeply but do not pretend to have everything under control.

It is for the parent searching for reassurance during a difficult pregnancy, the exhausted person wondering whether their baby will ever sleep, the family trying to manage a challenging stage, and anyone who has prepared a carefully balanced meal only to watch a child eat three crackers and a suspicious amount of ketchup.

Welcome to Kido & Me

This site is built on real life: a legal career, four children, more than twenty years of parenting, many lessons learned, several plans abandoned, and countless questions researched along the way.

My goal is simple: to make family life a little easier by giving parents practical information, honest guidance, and a place where they do not have to feel as though everyone else has received an instruction manual they somehow missed.

You are welcome here at every stage — whether you are preparing for your first baby, raising growing children, guiding a teenager, or doing several of those things before breakfast.

Because parenting may not come with a manual, but it should come with support.

With love, Mina
